Powerful explosion in Istanbul leaves one dead, several injured
A powerful explosion occurred in a 14-storey building in Istanbul, reportedly caused by a natural gas leak in an apartment on the ground floor.
The explosion caused significant damage, with debris collapsing into the surrounding area, Caliber.Az reports citing Turkish media.
Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance crews, swiftly arrived at the scene. The building's residents were promptly evacuated for safety.
Preliminary reports indicate that one person has died and three others have been injured in the explosion. Search efforts are still ongoing for one more individual. The total number of injured has now risen to four.
In response to the explosion, electricity and gas supplies to the building have been cut off. Rescue operations continue, and authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
