President Aliyev: Azerbaijan must strengthen army to protect itself against any risks from Armenia

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev is convinced that the reconciliation with Armenia is not an easy process, but there are no alternatives to it.

“Azerbaijani society approaches the process of [signing] a peace treaty with Armenia with understanding. It's not easy, we understand that, but we don't need another war. At the same time, we must protect ourselves from any possible revanchist risks from Armenia,” President Aliyev said at a meeting with participants in the international conference “South Caucasus: development and cooperation” on Friday, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.

“Therefore, on the one hand, we must strengthen our army, and on the other, prepare the Azerbaijani society for peace.”
