President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has sent an address to the participants of the 6th plenary meeting of the UN Global Operational Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Authorities – (GlobE Network), taking place in Baku.
His address, read out by Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports.
Note that, the plenary session is being held at the Baku Congress Centre. The event has drawn more than 300 participants, representing over 120 anti-corruption bodies from 92 countries.
Among the delegates are over 50 senior officials from law enforcement agencies, as well as representatives from 21 prosecution services, 53 independent anti-corruption institutions, and 16 international organisations. More than 100 addresses are expected during the conference, which focuses on enhancing global coordination and practical collaboration in anti-corruption efforts.
As a reminder, the GlobE Network is a UNODC-led initiative established in 2021 to enhance international cooperation in combating cross-border corruption. It provides a secure platform for anti-corruption practitioners to share information, coordinate investigations, and recover stolen assets efficiently.
As of May 2025, the GlobE Network comprises 234 authorities from 126 UN Member States and States Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC). Governed by its members through a Plenary and Steering Committee, the Network is supported by a permanent UNODC secretariat.
The current Steering Committee, serving a three-year term since January 2025, is chaired by Saudi Arabia and vice-chaired by Brazil, with members including Azerbaijan, China, Ethiopia, Grenada, India, Italy, Nigeria, Republic of Korea, Romania, Russian Federation, South Africa, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates.
In September 2023, the Network launched its first regional component in the Western Balkans, encompassing Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia. This initiative aims to strengthen regional cooperation through enhanced information sharing, access to tools and expertise, and promotion of transparency and accountability.
