President Pezeshkian: US expected Iran to collapse like Venezuela

Washington expected the Islamic Republic of Iran to collapse quickly, similar to Venezuela, when it launched the conflict in the Middle East, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated.

However, he said this did not happen thanks to the country’s resilience and unity, IRNA reports.

“The adversary assumed that Iran would fall, just like Venezuela. This did not happen; moreover, Iran has become a force whose resilience, strength, unity and solidarity have astonished the whole world,” the agency quoted him as saying.

The president added that the Iranian people would stand firm despite the “most severe sanctions” imposed on the country.
