President Tokayev calls Kurultai elections historic day for Kazakhstan

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev voted in the elections for Kurultai deputies on August 23, 2026, calling the vote a historic day for the country.

The head of state cast his ballot at polling station No. 520 at the Palace of Independence, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakhstan’s presidential press service.

After voting, he held a briefing for media representatives.

“Undoubtedly, today is truly a historic day for our country. For the first time, we are holding elections for a unicameral Kurultai. This is an important historic event. United as one nation, we are carrying out large-scale reforms... Today’s elections are only the beginning of this major effort,” Tokayev said.
