President Zelenskyy: History to be made at Ukraine Peace Summit Article in Neue Zürcher Zeitung
US vice-president, Kamala Harris, has pledged more than $1.5 billion in aid for Ukraine’s energy sector and its humanitarian situation amid its ongoing war with Russia.
Harris made the announcement at a peace summit in Lucerne, Switzerland, where she met Ukraine President, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Caliber.Az reports citing Neue Zürcher Zeitung.
After Swiss President Viola Amherd said that it would be impossible to “declare peace for Ukraine” at the summit, President Zelenskyy said that “history will be made” there.
After dinner, several high-profile guests, including Kamala Harris, left. The only question is whether 100 delegations can agree on a joint final declaration.
The guests will hold thematic talks on nuclear and food security, as well as on the human dimension of the military conflict.
One question also remains open. Will the venue of the next summit be announced after many presidents said that Russia should be included in the process?
According to NZZ, the most likely candidate is Saudi Arabia.
Then there will be press conferences among President Zelenskyy, President Amherd and Swiss Foreign Minister Ignazio Cassis.
