Prince Harry stepped up personal security after announcing Taliban killing VIDEO
Prince Harry of the British royal family appears to have stepped up on his personal security detail during his press tour to promote his new explosive and scandalous memoir, in which he, among others, reveals having killed 25 Taliban fighters during his service for the Royal army in Afghanistan.
As the British Daily Mail reported, he was escorted by three NYPD detectives and two bodyguards to an appearance at Stephen Colbert's talk show on January 9 in New York.
One of the bodyguards, a British former policeman, was seen carrying a Glock pistol case.
The royal, who found himself in hot water for his memoir in which he hands out harsh criticism against his family members and reveals intimate family details and conversations, has long relied on armed private bodyguards since moving to the US. However, the appearance of a guard carrying a pistol case was an unusual sight.
A retired-commanding officer Colonel Collins responded to the Prince's statement, saying "That's not how you behave in the Army; it's not how we think. Harry has now turned against the other family, the military, that once embraced him having trashed his birth family", as the BBC reported.
Another ex-army officer Col Richard Kemp, who was sent to Kabul in 2003 to take command of forces in Afghanistan, told the BBC that by referring to killed Taliban insurgents as "chess pieces", this could give "propaganda to the enemy" and undermine Prince Harry's security and could provoke people to take revenge.
