Prisoner found dead in Armenian jail

A 56‑year‑old inmate has been found hanged in the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia’s facility in the Nubarashen district of Yerevan, Armenian authorities confirmed.

According to the service, the body was discovered around 4:30 a.m. local time by a prison officer during a routine inspection, Caliber.Az reports per Armenian media. 

A criminal investigation has been launched by the investigative department covering the Erebuni and Nubarashen districts to determine the circumstances of the death, and a forensic medical examination has been ordered.
