Public support for Putin remains high, new opinion poll indicates

Seventy-nine percent of Russian citizens approve of Vladimir Putin’s performance as President of the country, the latest public opinion survey said.

The figures come from an updated rating published on the official website of the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.

Nine percent of respondents expressed disapproval of the president’s performance, while 12 percent said they were undecided. In terms of personal trust, 78 percent of those surveyed stated that they trust Putin. By contrast, 12 percent reported that they do not trust the head of state, and a further 11 percent were unable to give a definitive answer.

FOM noted that the survey was conducted between December 19 and 22 across 97 settlements in 51 regions of Russia. The poll included 1,500 respondents aged 18 and over. The stated margin of error does not exceed 3.6 percent.
