Pundit Baghdasaryan: France is not Armenia's ally
Armenian political analyst Armen Baghdasaryan has said France is not Armenia's ally.
"As for the resolution adopted in France. To be honest, I am far from thinking that France is Armenia's ally. Because France is one of the main countries of the collective West and the collective West has its interests here," he said in an interview with Armenian media, Caliber.Az reports.
"Another issue is that at this stage these interests coincide with Armenia's interests, at least so to speak in the ‘Crossroads of Peace’. After all, if we consider Russia's role in the ‘Crossroads of Peace’, its role is not there at all. The ‘Crossroads of Peace’ is, by and large, the crossroads of the middle corridor. That is, the opening of the corridor without direct Russian control. In fact, the West does not benefit from a possible war not because it supports peace or protects Armenia's interests, no, but because in case of war, Russia may invade the region. And it is for this reason that France makes such a harsh statement against Azerbaijan.
On the other hand, it is known that these documents are rather advisory in nature and are not necessarily implemented by the executive branch. And, naturally, this will be the case.
As for the clause on the return of Karabakh Armenians and the provision of guarantees, we should realize that it is unrealistic at the moment. Even if there are some guarantees and most of the Karabakh Armenians return, we will not have what we had before the 44-day war and what we had before September 20," the political analyst said.
