Putin invites Xi to Russia during Beijing visit
Russian President Vladimir Putin confirmed on May 19 that he would attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in the Chinese city of Shenzhen in November and invited Chinese President Xi Jinping to visit Russia in 2027.
Speaking during talks with Xi, Putin said Moscow fully supported China’s chairmanship of the APEC forum this year and confirmed his participation in the summit, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
“We fully support the work of China’s chairmanship of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum this year,” Putin said, adding that he was ready to take part in the summit in Shenzhen in November.
The Russian leader also invited Xi to pay a visit to Russia next year, describing the Chinese president as a “dear friend”.
Putin arrived in Beijing on May 19 for a two-day visit. The Kremlin said the two leaders were expected to discuss bilateral ties and exchange views on international and regional issues during their meeting.
