Putin on possible summit with Trump, Zelenskyy: UAE seen as suitable venue
Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated that the United Arab Emirates could be an appropriate location for a Russia–US summit.
After a meeting at the Kremlin with the UAE leader, Putin told journalists that Russia has many friends willing to help organise such an event, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
"One of these friends is the president of the United Arab Emirates. I believe we will decide, but it would be one of the suitable, quite suitable places,” he emphasised.
On the prospect of meeting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Putin said he was not opposed in principle.
“I have said many times that I have no objections in general, it is possible,” he remarked. “However, certain conditions must be created first, and unfortunately, we are still far from creating such conditions.”
Meanwhile, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), told reporters that Russia and the United States are engaged in important dialogue across various areas. He accused Russia’s opponents of attempting to disrupt the talks and mislead the US leadership.
“We note that a very important dialogue is underway with the US on different fronts. Many opponents of Russia are trying to sabotage this dialogue, trying to interfere, and trying to misinform the US leadership on various facts,” Dmitriev said.
He added that this dialogue allows Russia to communicate its position.
