Putin, Pezeshkian discuss Middle East war in second call this week

Russian President Vladimir Putin held his second telephone conversation this week with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, the Kremlin press service said.

According to the Kremlin, the two leaders continued discussions on the situation in the Middle East, focusing in particular on US and Israeli strikes against Iran, Caliber.Az reports.

During the call, Putin reaffirmed Russia’s principled position in favour of the earliest possible de-escalation of the conflict, the Kremlin said, adding that the Russian president advocates resolving the crisis through political and diplomatic means.

For his part, Pezeshkian expressed gratitude for Russia’s support, including the provision of humanitarian aid to Iran.
