Kremlin spokesman: Putin not scheduled to meet CIA chief in Moscow UPDATED

CIA Director John Ratcliffe is not expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on August 26.

“There will be no meeting with the president,” Peskov said when asked whether Putin planned to receive the CIA chief at the Kremlin.

Peskov said contacts between Ratcliffe and Putin had not been planned as part of the CIA chief’s visit to Russia.

The visit by CIA Director John Ratcliffe to Moscow was linked to “contacts between intelligence services”, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told The Washington Post, without providing further details.

Peskov had earlier said the Kremlin had no information about the arrival of a US military aircraft at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. He said Russia had no plans to meet US government representatives this week.

A US Air Force Boeing C-17 aircraft, which CBS News reported was carrying Ratcliffe, landed at Vnukovo at about 10:04 a.m. on August 25.

CBS News reported that the CIA director had travelled to Moscow for talks, but did not specify whom he was due to meet.
