Putin signs law expanding grounds for firing foreign workers

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law expanding the list of grounds for terminating employment contracts with foreign citizens and stateless persons.

The list now includes cases where an employer is obliged to reduce the number of foreign workers in compliance with regulatory legal acts of a Russian federal subject, Caliber.Az reports, citing the document published on the official legal information portal

The law will take effect on March 1, 2026. The initiative was introduced to parliament by members of the “New People” faction.
