“Putin to be arrested if he arrives in Armenia” Bravado of MP supporting Armenian prime minister
Member of the Armenian National Assembly from the ruling Civil Contract faction, former Deputy Defence Minister Gagik Melkonyan has answered the journalists' questions about whether Russian President Vladimir Putin may be arrested if he visits Yerevan.
Melkonyan said that the Armenian authorities will fulfill their obligations upon the Rome Statute.
“Firstly, Putin will not arrive in Armenia and will not be arrested. It is better for Putin to stay in his own country. As for us, if we enter into these agreements, we must fulfill our obligations. Let Russia solve its problems with Ukraine. I do not want Putin to arrive in Armenia. If we have already signed this document, then it is better for him not to arrive in Armenia. If he arrives, he must be arrested, but he knows this well and will not want to arrive,” he added.
