Putin to skip G20 summit in Miami, Kremlin confirms

Russian President Vladimir Putin is not expected to attend the 2026 G20 summit in person, the Kremlin spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, said.

“There are currently no plans for President Putin to participate in the December summit,” Peskov told TASS.

At the previous G20 meeting in South Africa last November, Putin also did not attend in person. Instead, the Russian delegation was led by Maxim Oreshkin.

The upcoming G20 leaders’ summit is scheduled for December 14–15 in Miami. Donald Trump had previously expressed that he would welcome the participation of both Putin and Xi Jinping.
