Qarabağ FK, Viktoria Plzen draw in first game of UEFA Champions League playoff round
Azerbaijan’s Qarabağ FK and Viktoria Plzen from the Czech Republic have played the first game of the two-leg playoff round of the UEFA Champions League.
The match took place at the Togif Bahramov stadium in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku on August 17, according to Caliber.Az.
Despite dominating almost the entire game, the Azerbaijani side could not find the net. Viktoria Plzen’s goalee Jindrich Stanek prevented four goal attempts of Qarabağ FK players to lead the game to a draw.
“We will have to make more effort in the next game to achieve the desired result. We will be going to the Czech Republic with great hope and belief,” Qarabağ FK manager Gurban Gurbanov said in a post-match interview.
The next game of the tie will take place in Plzen city of the Czech Republic on August 23.
