Baku to host international U17 boxing tournament “Heydar Aliyev Cup 2026”
The international boxing tournament “Heydar Aliyev Cup 2026” for boys and girls under 17 will begin in Baku on May 2, bringing together athletes from multiple countries.
The competition will be held at the Baku Boxing Centre and is expected to feature 185 participants. Alongside the host nation Azerbaijan, teams from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Latvia, Estonia, and Moldova will take part, along with neutral athletes, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Winners will be determined across 23 weight categories — 14 for boys and 9 for girls — with the final bouts scheduled for May 7.
The opening ceremony will take place on the first day at 15:00 local time, followed by the start of matches. Ukrainian representative Pavlo Vasylinchuk has been appointed tournament supervisor, while Anar Babanly will serve as chief referee.
