Football borders break: FIFA considers one overseas league game rule
26 April 2026 16:17
FIFA is planning to allow national football leagues to hold one match per season in a foreign country.
Under the proposed framework, the host country would be permitted to stage no more than five matches from a foreign domestic league, Caliber.Az reports via British media.
Organizing such fixtures would require approval from the national football associations of both participating countries, as well as final authorization from FIFA.
The reform comes after La Liga and Serie A were denied permission by authorities in Miami and Perth to host matches abroad during the 2025/26 season.
