Qatar Airways suspends flights to Armenia amid escalating regional tension
The Armenian Civil Aviation Committee has announced that Qatar Airways suspended flights to Armenia indefinitely amid Iran's missile strikes on Israel.
Specifically, the flight from Doha to Yerevan scheduled for October 1 at 20:40 (GMT+4) has been canceled, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
However, the aircraft set to arrive in Yerevan on October 3 at 00:50 is still listed in the schedule at Zvartnots International Airport and has not been canceled yet. The Civil Aviation Committee noted that there are currently no mass flight cancellations in the region.
Iran launched dozens of missiles toward Israel on October 1 in what it said was a response to the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and others – potentially taking the region closer to a wider conflict. Dozens of missiles piercing through the skies were observed as sirens blasted across the country.
At least one person was killed and several were injured during the attack, according to the Israeli military. International spokesman for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Nadav Shoshani said that one Palestinian was killed in Jericho as a result of the attacks. Israel has vowed to respond to the attack – sparking worries among its allies that the conflict in the Middle East could escalate further.
