Rally of revanchists underway in Armenia
A rally organised by the "Tavush” (Tovuzgala) movement is being held in Republic Square in Armenia’s capital Yerevan.
The rally is led by Archbishop Bagrat Galstanyan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The Armenian National Security Service warned the opposition leaders ahead of a protest rally planned for the evening of October 2, 2024, urging them to refrain from making statements that could incite an overthrow of the constitutional order.
"The National Security Service calls on representatives of opposition political forces during the rally scheduled for October 2, 2024, in Republic Square to avoid statements advocating the seizure of power, the violent overthrow of the constitutional order, the use of violence against individuals or groups under any circumstances, public calls to resist authorities or any acts of violence," the statement reads.
The rally, led by Galstanyan, marks a new stage in the political struggle against the government of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The first protest is set to take place in Republic Square, where key government buildings, including the Prime Minister’s office, are located.
Moreover, the Armenian police have echoed the National Security Service's call, urging participants to maintain public order during the rally.
