Renowned Russian architect shot dead in St Petersburg apartment PHOTO / VIDEO
A prominent Russian architect, Alexander Suponitsky, has been shot dead in his flat in St Petersburg’s “Tsarskaya Stolitsa” residential complex, reportedly in front of his daughter.
Thus, an armed man entered Suponitsky’s home on Kremenchugskaya Street with a carbine rifle, forced him to kneel, and shot him in the back of the head, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
The attacker then killed himself and set the flat on fire.
Suponitsky, 70, was one of St Petersburg’s best-known architects. His portfolio included the design of metro stations such as Gorkovskaya, Frunzenskaya, and Park Pobedy, as well as the Nevsky Town Hall and the Vostochny yacht club. He was also involved in numerous architectural projects across Russia and abroad.
Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
