Representatives from 60 countries to attend Iran's presidential inauguration

24 July 2024 13:32

At least 60 countries have confirmed the participation of their delegations in the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President-elect Massoud Pezeshkian.

"So far, 60 countries have announced their participation and confirmed the presence of their delegations at the presidential inauguration ceremony," Mojtaba Yousefi, a member of the praesidium of the Iranian Majlis (Parliament), stated, Caliber.Az reports quoting foreign media.

He further explained that these delegations will be represented at various levels, including four presidents, 12 heads of parliaments, and seven prime ministers.

Yousefi also informed that Pezeshkian's swearing-in ceremony will be held on July 30 at the Majlis building, following the signing of a decree by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on July 28 confirming the president-elect in office.

Massoud Pezeshkian, a prominent Iranian politician and former Minister of Health, secured victory in the presidential election in Iran on July 6.

His victory marks a significant moment in Iranian politics, as he garnered widespread support across various sectors of society. Pezeshkian is known for his moderate and reformist views, and his campaign focused on economic reforms, healthcare improvements, and greater political freedoms.

His win is seen as a shift towards more progressive policies in Iran, and he is expected to face both domestic and international challenges as he takes office.
