Residential building collapses in Istanbul One dead / UPDATED

At least one person was killed in the collapse of a three-story building in Istanbul,  the head of the city's fire department Remzi Albayrak said on air on Haberturk TV channel.

"One body has been found, search operations are continuing," he said.

The city's governor Davut Gul told reporters earlier that seven people had been rescued, two of them in serious condition. According to him, the cause of the collapse of the house is being investigated, while he ruled out the version of an explosion as the cause of the accident.

The incident occurred in the Küçükçekmece district in the European part of Istanbul at around 08:40 local time. According to the governor, on the first floor of the house there was a restaurant where work was being carried out, on the second floor there was an office space, on the top floor there were people living.

A three-story house has collapsed in the Küçükçekmece neighborhood in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The cause of the accident is being established, rescue units have been sent to the area, the press service of the governor of Istanbul reported, according to TRT Haber TV channel.

Two victims have been rescued from under the rubble, their state of health is not dangerous.

The incident occurred at 08:40 local time. The debris of the building, as TRT Haber shows on air, collapsed on the parking lot located next to the house.

Rescuers and firefighters are working at the scene, they dismantle the rubble.

The reasons for the collapse of the apartment building are unknown.
