Reuters: Azerbaijan rules out sending peacekeepers to Gaza without complete ceasefire
Azerbaijan has no plans to deploy peacekeepers to Gaza unless fighting between Israel and Hamas comes to a complete halt, an Azerbaijani government source told Reuters on November 7.
"We do not want to put our troops in danger. This can only happen if military action is completely stopped," the source said.
As part of U.S. President Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, Washington has been in discussions with Azerbaijan, Indonesia, the UAE, Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye about potential contributions to an International Stabilization Force (ISF) of around 20,000 troops.
The Azerbaijani source added that any decision to participate would require parliamentary approval. The head of the parliamentary security committee told Reuters that it had not yet received any draft bill related to the issue.
Earlier, reliable sources told AnewZ that Baku has not yet made a final decision on whether to join the proposed mission. They said Azerbaijan’s position remains firm — any participation must be based on a United Nations Security Council resolution that provides international legitimacy and clearly defines the mandate of such a force.
