Rishi Sunak joins Microsoft, pledges earnings to charity
US tech giant Microsoft has appointed former UK Prime Minister and Conservative Party member Rishi Sunak as a senior advisor.
Sunak will work part-time, providing advice to the company on macroeconomic and geopolitical trends and representing Microsoft at various events, Caliber.Az reports via foreign media.
To avoid any conflict of interest, he is prohibited from advising the company on UK policy matters, engaging in lobbying, or leveraging his political connections.
Sunak has pledged to donate his entire Microsoft salary to The Richmond Project, a charitable organisation he co-founded with his wife, Akshata Murty, to promote math education for children.
In addition to his new role at Microsoft, the former prime minister also works with the San Francisco-based AI startup Anthropic and the investment bank Goldman Sachs, where he was employed from 2001 to 2004.
Rishi Sunak served as the UK’s Prime Minister from October 2022 to July 2024 and was previously Chancellor of the Exchequer (2020–2022), where he led the government’s COVID-19 economic response.
