Roof of students’ palace collapses in Almaty PHOTO

The roof of the Zholdasbekov Students’ Palace in Almaty partially collapsed overnight on September 24.

Footage of the incident appeared on social media, while residents reported hearing a loud crash and seeing a column of dust in the area of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Caliber.Az reports, citing Kazakh media.

The building was undergoing reconstruction, with the project covering virtually all of its key elements and involving a complete technical upgrade.

Al-Farabi Kazakh National University said the building had long been in poor condition, but did not give a specific cause or further details about the collapse.
