Ruling party: Armenia intensifying ties with West for economic development
Member of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s “Civil Contract” party Vagharshak Hakobyan has said that Armenia is strengthening relations with Western countries for its own security.
“Armenia is strengthening relations with Western countries for its own security; this is not directed against Russia,” Hakobyan, who is also deputy head of the parliamentary Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration, said, TASS reports.
“When the Republic of Armenia intensifies its relations with one country, they are not directed against other country, especially against our ally, the Russian Federation,” he said.
He noted that Armenia is intensifying relations with Western countries for economic development and improvement of security.
“Yerevan acts for its own benefit,” Hakobyan added.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that Armenia is being turned into a tool for the implementation of Western ideas.
