Russia adds ex-prime minister to terrorists list
Former Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov has been added to Russia’s list of terrorists and extremists, the Federal Financial Monitoring Service (Rosfinmonitoring) announced on its official website.
The listing states: “Kasyanov Mikhail Mikhailovich, born December 8, 1957, Moscow Region,” Caliber.Az reports.
Fled Russia in 2022 after Russia's Ukraine invasion, Kasyanov is now based in Latvia. As coordinator for the Anti-War Committee of Russia (launched March 2022), he has called for Putin's overthrow and an end to the war, reportedly disseminating "foreign agent" materials and criticising Kremlin policies.
On November 24, 2023, Russia's Ministry of Justice added Kasyanov to its "foreign agents" registry, citing his opposition to the "special military operation" in Ukraine, his Committee membership, and dissemination of "false information" about state policies. The label requires labelling all publications and imposes fines for non-compliance, affecting hundreds of critics since 2012.
