Russia again rejects opening “green corridor” in Mariupol - Ukrainian minister
On April 19, no humanitarian corridor will operate in Ukraine due to the non-stop shelling of the Russian troops in the Donbass region.
The Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine, Iryna Vereshchuk, said the Russian military also refused to provide a "green" corridor for the evacuation of residents of Mariupol.
“About Mariupol: the Russians refuse to provide a corridor for the exit of civilians in the direction of Berdyansk. We continue difficult negotiations on the opening of humanitarian corridors in the Kherson and Kharkiv regions,” Vereschuk was quoted as saying by OBOZREVATEL.
In addition, the Ukrainian authorities were recently forced to refuse evacuating the civilian population for security reasons as the Russian troops refused to at least temporarily stop the shelling.
Nearly 5 million people have reportedly fled Ukraine since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, 2022. As of March 2022, 190,000 residents of the country have been evacuated from the frontline.
