Israel’s top general on strike that killed IRGC commander: "No safe haven left"
Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Armed Forces, Major General Eyal Zamir, has issued a statement following the killing of Saeed Izadi, the head of the Palestinian branch of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), in an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian city of Qom.
According to the Israeli army press office, Zamir emphasised Izadi’s key role in orchestrating violence against Israel, Caliber.Az reports.
“Saeed Izadi was one of the secret partners in planning and carrying out the massacre on October 7,” the general stated. “He has the blood of thousands of Israelis on his hands.”
General Zamir further described Izadi as the central figure linking Tehran and Hamas.
“He was the leader of the Iran-Hamas axis,” he said. “His elimination is one of the key moments in the multi-sector war and makes the entire Middle East safer.”
Zamir declared that the operation sends a broader message: “There are no longer any safe cities in the region.”
Izadi was killed in a strike that targeted his apartment in Qom. Iranian media previously reported that two people were killed and four others wounded in Israeli strikes on the city.
