Zelenskyy discusses peace efforts, key details with US officials
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on his Telegram channel that he spoke with US special envoy Steven Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, covering significant details of ongoing work.
Following the talks, Zelenskyy stated that there are good ideas that could work toward a joint outcome and lasting peace, expressing hope that these Christmas agreements and the discussed ideas would prove useful, Caliber.Az reports.
"Some documents are already prepared, as I see it, they are nearly ready, and some documents are fully prepared. Of course, there is still work to be done on sensitive issues. But together with the American team, we understand how to put all of this in place," he wrote.
The conversation included Ukrainian National Security Secretary Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Andrii Hnatov, who recently returned from negotiations in the US, as well as Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and his deputy Serhiy Kyslytsya, along with Zelensky’s office staff Ihor Brusilo and Oleksandr Bevz.
Ukraine and the United States have been jointly negotiating a revised peace framework to end the nearly four‑year war, with Kyiv shifting earlier drafts to better reflect its core security and territorial concerns.
European Union leaders continue to back diplomatic efforts toward a just and lasting peace and have urged Russia to agree to an immediate ceasefire and meaningful negotiations under international law.
Russia’s position remains a major sticking point, as Moscow has so far shown reluctance to compromise and insists on conditions that conflict with the peace proposals supported by Kyiv and Washington.
