Russia, Arab League urge end to US-Iran hostilities
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Georgy Borisenko and the Head of the Arab League Representative Office in Russia, Walid Hamid Shiltagh, have discussed the deteriorating security situation in the Middle East, emphasizing the need to de-escalate tensions between the United States and Iran through diplomatic means.
According to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting focused on the latest developments in the region, with particular attention to the ongoing US-Iran confrontation.
"During the meeting, the parties discussed the situation in the Middle East, with a particular focus on the escalation of the US-Iran confrontation. They underscored the need for an immediate cessation of hostilities and for resolving existing differences through political and diplomatic means," the ministry said.
In addition to regional security issues, the two sides reviewed practical aspects of expanding cooperation between Russia and the League of Arab States. The discussions included preparations for upcoming joint events and coordination on future bilateral engagements.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said the meeting was held at the initiative of the League of Arab States' representative, underscoring continued dialogue between Moscow and the regional organization on key political and security issues affecting the Middle East.
