Russia begins third phase of nuclear drills VIDEO
Russia's military has launched the "third phase" of its broader non-strategic nuclear weapon exercises, which began in spring.
The Russian Defence Ministry reported that these drills are being conducted in the Central and Southern Military Districts, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
"This phase of the exercises involves personnel from the missile formations of the Southern and Central Military Districts carrying out combat training tasks. This includes the use of special training ammunition for the Iskander-M tactical missile systems," the Defence Ministry stated.
The statement also noted that servicemen will receive training in "equipping launch vehicles and covertly advancing to designated positions for electronic launch preparations."
A video released by the Defence Ministry depicted camouflaged military vehicles navigating muddy forest roads, with some vehicles visibly transporting missiles.
The first stage of the exercises began in May 2024. In June, Russian and Belarusian armed forces jointly carried out the second stage.
