Russia, Belarus hold second stage of joint non-strategic nuclear exercises

In accordance with a decision by the Russian President, the second stage of exercises involving non-strategic nuclear forces has commenced, the Russian Defence Ministry told TASS.

The military ministry stated, "During the exercise, joint training of units from the armed forces of Russia and the Republic of Belarus will focus on the combat deployment of non-strategic nuclear weapons."

These exercises aim to maintain the readiness of personnel and equipment for combat use of non-strategic nuclear weapons, ensuring the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Union State.

In the initial stage, missile formations of the Southern Military District practised tasks such as receiving training on special munitions for the Iskander operational-tactical missile system and covertly moving to designated positions for missile launches.

Furthermore, aviation units of the Russian Air and Space Forces participated by equipping aviation weapons with training special warheads, including Kinzhal aeroballistic hypersonic missiles, and conducting sorties to designated patrol areas.
