Russia blames Ukraine for shelling Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant

A spokesman for the Russian Defence Ministry, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov has said that the Ukrainian Armed Forces fired twice at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant over the past day.
Three shells hit the area near the special base with nuclear fuel and radioactive waste, Gazeta.ru quotes Konashenkov as saying.
“In total, nine shells were fired, three of which fell in the area of special building #2, in which new nuclear fuel produced by the TVEL company and solid radioactive waste are stored,” he said.
The spokesman added that during the second shelling, one of the shells fell in the area near power unit #6 while five others landed near the sixth pumping station, which cools the reactor in this power unit.
