Russia calls for suspension of fish certification from Armenia
Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance has called for the suspension of veterinary certification for live fish and fish products from Armenia intended for export to Russia, with the exception of products from two inspected enterprises.
According to the agency, Russian inspectors conducted checks at Armenian fish-processing enterprises and visited trout farming facilities between May 21 and May 27, 2026, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The Federal Service said that around 50% of the enterprises refused to participate in the inspections.
As a result, it recommended that Armenia suspend veterinary certification for all live fish and fish products for export to Russia starting June 2, 2026, except for two companies that successfully passed inspection.
Products from these two enterprises will be allowed into the Russian market only after laboratory testing for safety compliance.
