Russia conducts exercises with Yars strategic missiles
The Yoshkar-Ola missile unit of the Russian Armed Forces has initiated drills using mobile Yars strategic missile systems.
The Russian Defence Ministry told Russian media that these exercises, taking place in Mari El, are part of a planned series of manoeuvres, as per Caliber.Az.
The exercises involve various tasks, including intensive manoeuvre operations along combat patrol routes.
The Yars systems are undergoing training that includes marches of up to 100 kilometres and dispersal in forested areas to enhance their stealth capabilities. Additionally, the drills focus on countering potential sabotage and reconnaissance threats and managing equipment in areas of simulated chemical contamination.
This summer, similar exercises with the Yars systems were conducted in the Ivanovo and Irkutsk regions.
The Yars complexes, which form the core of the Strategic Missile Forces, include intercontinental ballistic missile versions in both silo-based and mobile configurations. Equipped with a missile featuring a separable warhead and manoeuvrable warheads, the Yars systems are capable of striking targets up to 11,000 kilometres away.
