Russia develops advanced unmanned aerial vehicle

22 August 2023 10:14

The Russian research and production enterprise Radar MMS has created an electric unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that can be used as much as possible without an operator, executive director of the enterprise Ivan Antsev said.

The new model weighs 30 kg and operates for 1.5-2 hours depending on weather conditions. The drone's maximum flight speed reaches 90 kilometres per hour, Gazeta.ru reports.

According to Antsev, such UAVs can be used to create multifunctional transportation systems that can operate for a long time without an operator.

The drone controls its condition independently due to artificial intelligence, which is able to make a decision to return to the base or crash land in case of force majeure thanks to predictive analytics.

Electric drones are much easier to operate and can be charged automatically, Antsev continued.

According to him, the task is to stop the need for an operator and to automate the drone as much as possible, thereby reducing the cost of this or that service, which is possible with electric drones.
