Russia has evacuated 632 people from Iran, including not only Russian citizens but also nationals of Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine, Russian Consul General in Isfahan Andrey Zhiltsov told RIA Novosti.
“Amid daily intense bombardments and missile strikes, staff of Russia’s foreign missions, with the support of the embassy, carried out four evacuation flights and ensured the organised and safe evacuation of 632 people from the combat zone,” the diplomat said.
He noted that, along with employees of the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, the evacuees included citizens of Belarus (81 people), Tajikistan (27), Armenia (four), Uzbekistan (three), as well as one citizen each from Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Family members of staff from the Russian embassy, the Consulate General in Isfahan, and several other Russian organisations accredited in Iran were also evacuated.
According to the consul general, nine sailors from the container ship MSC Aries, detained by Iranian authorities in April 2024, and the tanker MT ADARA were also evacuated.
