Russia: Four dead in residential fire in Khabarovsk Krai village PHOTO

A devastating fire in a residential building in the village of Rakitnoye, Khabarovsk Krai, has claimed the lives of four people, including two men and two women aged between 29 and 54, the regional office of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) reported.

The blaze rapidly engulfed the entire structure. Fire crews managed to contain the fire within 30 minutes, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring buildings.

By 01:00 on February 26, the flames were fully extinguished, allowing firefighters to begin soaking and dismantling the charred remains.

Operations concluded at around 04:00, with the fire affecting approximately 300 square metres of the property.

A total of 13 emergency responders and four fire engines from regional units were involved in tackling the fire. Psychologists from EMERCOM’s Far Eastern Centre for Emergency Psychological Assistance were on site to support relatives of the deceased.

Investigators are now working to determine the cause of the fire, EMERCOM added.
