Russia and India have agreed to further strengthen military cooperation, including the expansion of joint military exercises.

The announcement was made by the Indian Defence Ministry following the fourth meeting of working group on military cooperation of Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on military and military-technical cooperation held in Moscow, Caliber.Az reports citing Russian media.

The meeting, which marked a key milestone in the long-standing strategic partnership between the two nations, underscored the growing collaboration in areas of mutual strategic interest.

According to a statement by the Indian Defence Ministry, both sides emphasized the importance of ongoing knowledge sharing and coordination across various military domains. The agreement to enhance joint exercises aims to bolster the operational interaction between the armed forces of both countries, fostering greater synergy and interoperability.

The Indian Defence Ministry highlighted that the strengthening of military cooperation aligns with the broader strategic objectives of both nations, reinforcing their commitment to security and stability in the region. The expanded joint exercises are expected to enhance the preparedness and capabilities of both countries’ forces, offering significant benefits in terms of defence collaboration and operational readiness.

The Indian Defence Ministry highlighted that Russia and India have conducted numerous joint exercises across land, air, and sea domains. "Exercises such as Indra, Avia Indra, and Indra Navy have played a key role in sharing best practices, enhancing joint operational tactics, and deepening mutual understanding," the Ministry of Defence stated.
