Russia, Iran formalize cooperation on small nuclear power plant construction
Russian and Iranian delegations have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly advance the construction of small nuclear power plants within Iran’s territory.
The announcement was made public via the Rosatom, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the statement, the MoU was finalized following detailed discussions between the two nations’ delegation leaders.
“Following discussions between the heads of the delegations of the two countries, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed regarding cooperation in the construction of small nuclear power plants on the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The document outlines specific steps aimed at implementing this strategic project in Iran,” the official statement read.
The signing ceremony took place in Moscow, marking a high-level engagement between Rosatom Director General, Alexey Likhachev, and Iran's vice president, head of the Atomic Energy Organisation of the country, Mohammad Eslami.
