Russia, Iran to focus on Syria, regional strategy in key Tehran talks

Russian President's Special Envoy on Syria Alexander Lavrentiev, is set to hold talks with Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, on October 20 in Tehran.

The meeting is scheduled to take place in the evening and is expected to focus on regional developments, particularly the situation in Syria and broader security cooperation between Moscow and Tehran, Caliber.Az reports, citing Iranian media.

Earlier, a representative of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed Lavrentiev’s arrival in the Iranian capital for consultations with senior Iranian diplomats. The visit highlights continued high-level engagement between Russia and Iran on matters of mutual strategic interest in the Middle East.
