The Ministries of Digital Development of Russia and Kazakhstan are currently evaluating the feasibility of installing a fiber-optic communication line along the seabed of the Caspian Sea, aiming to enhance regional connectivity.

“This project will establish direct communication links between our regions and Armenia, Iran, and Kazakhstan,” stated Maksut Shadayev, Russia’s Minister of Digital Development, Caliber.Az reports.

Shadayev emphasized that the initiative could act as a significant driver for the digital transformation of the Caspian littoral states, potentially accelerating regional economic and technological integration.

The announcement was made on the sidelines of the Caspian Digital Forum 2025, highlighting growing cooperation between the two nations in advancing digital infrastructure and connectivity across the region.
