Russia launches overnight ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv

Russian forces attacked Kyiv with ballistic missiles overnight on September 29, damaging an administrative building and an educational facility, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

In the Solomianskyi district, missile debris fell in the courtyard of a residential building, while an administrative building at an infrastructure facility and an educational institution were also hit. In the Pecherskyi district, a non-residential building caught fire. There were also reports of a drone falling in Kyiv’s government quarter, but the information has not been officially confirmed.

Earlier, Russian forces attacked the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, killing two people. One of the victims was an aide to former Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council Volodymyr Horbulin. Horbulin himself was injured after a jet-powered drone struck the building directly above his office.

Later, Klitschko reported that 26 people had been injured in attacks on the Ukrainian capital that had continued since the morning of September 28, with eight of them hospitalised.
