Russia lodges protest over alleged misconduct by British Embassy staffer

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has lodged a formal protest regarding reports of alleged wrongdoing by a British embassy employee, the ministry said on its website.

“The protest has been registered in connection with information that one of the diplomatic staff at the British embassy, when seeking entry to our country, deliberately provided false information about themselves,” the statement said.

The ministry added that “Moscow will not tolerate the activities of undeclared British intelligence officers on Russian soil.”
