Russia: Man detained after threatening bank seizure in Belgorod PHOTO
A man was detained after an incident at a Promsvyazbank branch in central Belgorod, where he initially claimed to be carrying an explosive device.
The incident took place at the bank’s office located at 59 Preobrazhenskaya Street. Early reports suggested that hostages might be inside the building, the Russian Telegram channel ASTRA reports.
The suspect did not take any hostages, and all people present were able to leave the premises safely.
During negotiations with law enforcement officers, the man stated that he had explosives on his body. Following his detention, authorities confirmed that no explosive device was found.
Police and security services worked at the scene, and an investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances and motives behind the incident.
