Russia: NATO steps up efforts to create military threats to Russia

The Scientific Council under the Russian Security Council has analysed Russia's strategy towards Western countries, taking into account the interests of national security, as well as the results of the NATO summit held in June, TASS reported on July 26, citing the press service of the Russian Security Council, following a meeting of the global problems section and international security. 

The statement says that the experts of the Security Council noted the build-up of the efforts of the North Atlantic Alliance aimed at creating direct military threats to the Russian Federation.

In their opinion, the NATO summit held in Madrid once again showed that the alliance continues to resort to the mechanism of imposing US positions on the collective West. At the same time, despite the statements of the NATO leadership, the activities of the organization do not allow to ensure international stability and strengthen the security of its member states, the Security Council of the Russian Federation emphasized.

As a result of the meeting, the Security Council of Russia developed proposals that should be worked out in the authorities. The event was chaired by Alexander Venediktov, Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
